My first taste of nonprofit work was as the media advocate for PAVE, an organization dedicated to ending sexual assault and dating violence on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. With our community functioning as a microcosm of the larger world, I spearheaded multiple communications projects for one of the area’s most respected nonprofits. From launching a blog to executing press releases to growing our social media presence, my comprehensive media strategy allowed our team to identify PAVE’s target audience and how to best grab their attention.

“Jacqueline was a crucial component of the PAVE staff and contributed great critical thinking to the team. She was a joy to supervise because her media work was completed promptly and effectively. Throughout the course of the semester, she wrote several op-eds, designed numerous posters for events, and managed PAVE’s campus image through Facebook, Twitter, and general publicity. One of her greatest achievements was a poster campaign that will be running on city buses throughout Madison encouraging students to understand and get consent. Overall, I would highly recommend Jacqueline because she is passionate, hard-working, and not afraid to challenge others to do better–a skill that expanded PAVE in new ways this year.” - Claire Peterson, PAVE chair
